What to DoCape Cod, surrounded by gorgeous beaches and famous for tourism, has an almost endless list of things to do. Whether it’s playing a round of golf or tennis, swimming, or just lounging on the beach with a good book, activities on Cape Cod are everywhere. And that’s just the daytime. Nights bring another set of options. The Cape is famous for its summer theater, and there are dozens of performances, from dramatic plays to live music, with national acts and excellent regional performers. Is there anything finer than enjoying a sport on a sunny day? The Cape Cod Baseball League, one of the elite summer leagues in the country, is a classic local pastime. When you’re ready to be active, the Cape has a world of options awaiting you. Our beautiful beaches, including the Cape Cod National Seashore, offer unparalleled swimming, boating, fishing, windsurfing, and parasailing. You’ll have lots of opportunities to learn how to sail while you’re here. Or rent a paddle boat or kayak and see the waters on your own steam. Golfing is another superb option. Cape Cod is one of the country’s most popular golf destinations, with dozens of courses. Horseback riding offers a chance to be active and explore our beautiful natural areas. When you want to escape the crowds, try one of our many tranquil nature walks. Each of our 13 towns has superb hiking and walking trails. There are also many nature talks you can attend. Or travel on a whale-watch boat to get a glimpse of these great creatures of the sea. We have several aquariums and a “zoo aquarium” where you can witness ocean life up close. Kids will love the opportunity for a “hands-on” experience. Cape Cod’s occasional rainy days offer a great chance to enjoy other choices. How about one of our excellent art museums? The Cape is a mecca for artists, and you’ll find artist studios in all our towns, often with artists working at their craft. While you’re out, you’ll want to browse in our many shops. That can be a daylong activity in itself! Did we mention the most popular summer activity on Cape Cod? It’s very simple: Pack your sunscreen, a cold pack with snacks and drinks, and a Frisbee or good novel and head to the beach. And don’t worry if you can’t cover all the activities. You’ll be back again! The Cape Cod Connection also has plenty of information about outdoor activities. Last updated: June 14, 2007 |
